概要
2007年8月30日，這首歌的片段被用戶Nega發到烏克蘭論壇night.kharkov.ua上，並於11月4日被轉發到mp3forum.com.ua，但兩個貼子都沒有受到多少關注。2007年11月15日，用戶Kieron將其發在了allthelyrics.com，獲得了幾個回復，但很快大家就放棄了尋找。
2020年中旬，WatZatSong用戶alexx1984重新上傳了這個片段，使這首歌受到了關注。alexx1984描述這首歌來自電影《Jackou le Croquant》的俄羅斯盜版DVD。
2023年10月9日，用戶ShaiiValley在YouTube上傳了一段關於這首歌的視頻，引發更多人對這首歌產生興趣。很快，這首歌又在兩張不同的俄羅斯盜版DVD上被發現，這兩張DVD分別名為「МУЛЬТИПAРАД 3」和「МУЛЬТИПАРАД 4」。DVD收錄了《怪物史萊克》、《快樂的大腳》、《未來小子》等動畫電影，在DVD的選片菜單中這首歌被用作背景音樂，但不完整。
發現
2023年12月8日，Reddit用戶arabara在SOCAN（加拿大作詞者、作曲者及音樂發行人協會）的資料庫中搜索「How Long」一詞後找到了Paula Toledo的《How Long》。隨後這首歌的全曲在一個2005年10月1日播出的播客《Suburban Transpondency》的第三集中被發現。
2005年電影《Secret Lives》使用了這首歌作為片尾曲。此外，2006年的加拿大情境喜劇《15/Love》中也出現了這首歌。
2023年12月9日，Paula Toledo得知自己的歌曲被網友苦尋多年，在YouTube上發布了視頻回應大家的付出，並表示對此十分感動。
